  1. My cholesterol numbers have gone up since starting keto is there anything I can do before my next physical to lower the numbers, because I refuse to take meds, my last Doctor even mailed me a prescription which is still in the envelop.

  2. IF U DONT EAT THE AMOUNT OF CARBS FOR THE DAY WILL THE DIET GO IN REVERSE? IM DOING LOW CARB N NO SUGAR. FOR BOUT 4 DAYS N MY WEIGHT HAS GONE UP? SO MY QUESTION IS SHOULD I EAT THE 20 CARBS A DAY?

  3. I have an off topic question and don't know where to ask it. I started a keto diet 4 weeks ago and am having weird pain in my right shoulder. It is especially bad at night and it wakes me up. I didn't have this before starting keto. Am I doing something wrong?

  4. I just want to thank you for what you do. I am from the Netherlands and we need education on food as well. Thank you for providing that.

  5. Same story here, just saw my PCP he's very worried about my numbers but I convinced him to do research on the subject.
Ive lost 67lbs and have been following a Keto diet after having a sleeve Gastrectomy. Can the surgery have an effect on my cholesterol numbers?. I also do intermittent fasting 14-10
My HDL is 78, LDL 230, Triglycerides 79

  6. Dr. Westman? Isn't low density lipoprotein not a cholesterol anyway? Plus if they are small particle that is known to be bad. Is that not correct? If you see this please clarify. Is ldl on a CBC the same as that small particle?

  7. My Doc loves this diet for me!! He also agreed with me a few years back that statin meds actually cause diabetes in women. So none for me…Also high blood pressure runs big in my family. So yes I do have it but..not sure what my last bp reading was as doc didn't say anything about it. So it must be under control. I do have mvp with prolapse so I am on one med for that too. We shall see how it goes on from here…I must say that my daughter was freaked out that I was eating bacon every morning for breakfast and told Doc about it. He laughed looked at her and asked is she dead yet? lol….I just love my doc!! He is one of the rare ones that will read any research i find that can be useful and say hey lets try it 🙂

  8. I am getting the NMR test tomorrow at Lab Corp. 12-14 hours of fasting is required and the cost is $99.00. You make your appointment and payment online through Lab Corp with a phone call. It is quick and easy and they had 2 labs within 10 miles of my home. No appointment time is necessary since they are walk-in labs. Just give them your 8 digit order number and have the blood draw. Results in about 3-4 days. Easy and MUCH more accurate than the old lipid panel in which the LDL is not even measured, only calculated with a formula known as the Friedewald Calculation.

  9. Exactly what happened to me Dr. Westman…..Total cholesterol UP, LDL UP, HDL UP and Triglycerides DOWN. plus, 20 pounds of blubber GONE and have to buy new shirts and pants now. LOL Grains are now like a poison to me and I eat none. Never thought I could stop eating the much beloved bread and such, but my goal was stopping the health destroying inflamation.

  10. Thank you so much. I did tell my health care practitioner about your's and Jimmy Moore's book, "Cholesterol Clarity", I hope she will read it. I also told her about http://www.dietdoctor.com. My A1C number went down from 6.5 to 5.4. I was thrilled. Triglycerides went down too, but she was concerned about the cholesterol. She said, you have increased your fat in your diet, and your cholesterol went up, so it is the fat causing it. I know that is not true, but I am hoping she will study it further. She knows I refuse to take a statin. I have lost 20 lbs. but keeping my carbs 20 or below is tricky. I don't eat junk, but maybe too much of the okay stuff. I do feel great too. There is a cardiac surgeon here in Little Rock, AR that wants all of his patients on a ketogenic diet. He even has the hospital cafeteria trained in serving it. His name is C.D. Williams. I am thankful for forward thinking doctors. You are one of them. I have been diabetic for over 12 years, Metformin helped me to not have too many complications from it, but now I am off the metformin too. My morning fasting blood sugars are running about 130, but hopefully as more weight comes off, that will go down too. My fasting insulin was 10.2, is that good or bad?

  11. I've had a ongoing fight with my old school cardiologist. Finally decided to fire him as my doctor and find someone who understands ketogenic diet and blood levels. I'm 16 months on ketogenic diet and have lost 58 lbs. Blood work is excellent. So f**k him. No statin for me.
